General questions

What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is the scientific study of learning and behaviour. It enhances social, emotional, academic, and functional skills needed for success. ABA is well-known for supporting individuals on the Autism Spectrum but is also applied in sports, business, academics, and more.

Does Behaviourlytics provide tutoring services for children?

Yes, Behaviourlytics offers direct tutoring and behaviour aide support for children. These services are subcontracted, with scheduling arranged directly with the tutor. The cost is $28.97 per hour, with sessions recommended to be 1.5 to 2 hours daily. FSCD allows up to 15 hours per week for Behaviour Aide support.

How does billing work for services?

Billing runs through your Family Portal on ABA Flow, so there are no paper time sheets to sign or send back.

  1. After each session, your Behaviour Aide records the actual time and signs the session record.
  2. At the end of the month, your child’s monthly sheet is ready in the portal. Review the sessions and hours, ask the team a question if anything looks wrong, and sign.
  3. Behaviourlytics then reviews and signs the month and issues the billing documents: FSCD-funded services are billed to FSCD directly, and privately funded services receive an invoice.
  4. Your copies are always in the portal, ready to download from that month’s sheet.

Independently funded families pay within two weeks of receiving the invoice, by e-transfer.

How can I fund the services?

Funding requirements of a specialized learning service are recognised by Behaviourlytics. Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) may be available to support functional skills and specialized parent learning programs. Support is available for specialized services and behaviour development services.

Funding can take up to 6 weeks to be approved. Please speak and connect with your benefit provider or Behaviourlytics to discuss your needs and expectations of service. Behaviourlytics will work with your benefit provider to ensure services that will meet your needs and financial situation.

ABA therapy services

Do you provide Speech Therapy?

Behaviourlytics will partner with registered Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) at the request of the family. However, Behaviourlytics does not provide this service. Within applied behaviour analysis we have a specialty in understanding and development of verbal behaviour and can work on language skills.

Do you provide Occupational Therapy?

Behaviourlytics has an OT at this time and will partner with occupational therapists hired by the family. Within applied behaviour analysis we specialise in understanding motivation and developing skills utilising reinforcement procedures. We are able to assist development of self-help and daily living skills.

What is a BCBA and what do they do?

A BCBA, or Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, uses the science of learning to create programs that help individuals develop skills for independence. BCBAs are accountable to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. For more information, visit www.BACB.com.

What is an Associate?

An Associate at Behaviourlytics is seeking certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (see www.BACB.com). They meet with the home team on a weekly basis to provide training and support for the programs provided by the BCBA. They assist with data entry and monitoring charts, reporting to the BCBA during individual or group supervision sessions at least once every two weeks.

What do Behaviour Aides and Tutors do?

Behaviour Aides and Tutors provide direct services following programs developed by the BCBA or Associate. They collect data on specific skills and report any concerns. At Behaviourlytics, Behaviour Aides are encouraged to register with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs). RBTs complete ABA training and receive supervision for 5% of their work time.
